We dedicate this book
To: The Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who has blessed Immanuel Lutheran Church, Augsburg, for these one hundred and twenty five years.
To: The Sainted Founders of Immanuel, who so
faithfully labored for their Lord.
To: The Pastors and Teachers who have
taught us God's Holy Word in its truth and
purity.
To:
The men and women who have devoted their time and talents to the growth of
Immanuel.
To: All members who faithfully hear,
learn and love the Word of God and His
Sacraments.
To: The children of Immanuel who are the church
of tomorrow.
God's people, feeling the need of the true Word
and Sacrament and the teaching of God's Word to their children, resolved to
organize a congregation in the Augsburg area.
In order to have the services of a resident minister, our forefathers gathered God's people together to form a Lutheran congregation.
Immanuel Congregation resolved to observe the 125th anniversary with appropriate services and activities. This was done in recognition of God's many blessings over 125 years of time.
The theme chosen for the 2001 Anniversary is: "Our God, Our Help in Ages Past."
Speaker for the anniversary service on September 16, 2001 is Rev. David Bueltmann, president of the Central Illinois District.
A WORD FROM
THE PASTOR
Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had once
taken great pride in the kingdom that he had built by his mighty power and for
his glory. God quickly reminded him
that He gives kingdoms to whom He desires.
Nebuchadnezzar was striped of his kingdom until he acknowledged that the
Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone He
wishes. When Nebuchadnezzar finally
raised his eyes toward heaven, he praised the Most High and said, “His dominion
is an eternal dominion; His kingdom endures from generation to
generation.” Daniel 4:34
Over the years and from generation to generation we at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Augsburg, have known and continue to acknowledge that this place and these people are under the dominion, power, and grace of Almighty God. God the Father in His mercy has redeemed us through His Son and the Holy Spirit continues to sanctify our lives.
